JG Carraway Seeds JAR - 35g

Did you know that the term "caraway" comes from the Arabic karawiyâ, meaning "sugar root", and that the first traces of this spice date back to 5000 years BC? The pharaohs used them to chase away evil spirits and in the Middle Ages they were believed to be effective in  love potions!

Today, we know that caraway seeds, which belong to the same family as cumin (Apiaceae), have many other properties (stimulating, digestive, galactogenic and antispasmodic, for example). Their aniseed aromas with citrus notes and refreshing flavour, with a hint of bitterness, make caraway seeds a popular accompaniment to Munster cheese in the Alsace region. Whole caraway seeds provide a subtle flavour that goes perfectly with casseroles or crème brûlée!

Use:

In an infusion, one teaspoon per cup infused for 5 to 10 minutes at 95°C. For babies, do not exceed 100 ml of infusion per day.

Dry roasting the caraway seeds in a skillet over a high heat will bring out the flavour even more!

Sprinkle on cheese or in slow-cooked dishes.
