Za'atar is a blend of herbs and spices that combines the pleasant and intriguing flavor of thyme with the nutty, savory flavor of sesame, all made even fresher by the citrus notes of sumac, a reddish-brown fruit native to Palestine. It can be used in generous doses both raw and cooked, making even the littlest ones happy. Pairings: Extremely versatile in the kitchen, it enhances many dishes, including traditional Italian ones, such as pizza, bruschetta, pasta and sauces, potato and vegetable salads, legume soups and omelettes. It blends perfectly with extra virgin olive oil, adding flavor to ingredients like tofu etc.
